Emirates Sky Cargo used to operate a weekly B747-400F flight between Dubai and Düsseldorf. In 2012 they stopped this service. Yesterday I found this interesting Arrival on runway 05R and I decided to share it with you. The B747 made a very hard landing after a 6 hour flight from Dubai.

Thanks for watchin

  1. Its not like you to over emphasise something Cargospotter. This was a firm landing but given DUS is prone to blustery winds its quite a good landing. Nicely shot as always.

  2. Normal Boeing 747 landing = 5 views
Very HARD Boeing 747 Landing = 970,543 views
C'mon guys, we all know how this thing works.

  3. Really people. That's really a normal landing. They tried very hard not to lightly touch when landing. See the thing is, that tire smoke is money. So the less smoke they see(the airlines) the cheaper the landing is and the better they like it. So they want the pilots to bump the landing fairly hard. Because what happens if they bump the tire hard it will speed up really quick. And burn up the least amount of rubber. But if they grease it on or lightly touch down on landing the tire will smoke for a long time. And cost the airlines a lot of money. Those tires are probably close to 300 pounds and very hard to start rolling. And I have no idea how much they cost.
Now yes there's probably a fine line between landing too hard to save on tire wear versus scaring the passenger. But I'll bet that airlines would rather them error on the scaring the passenger side lol.

  4. You've obviously never seen what a hard landing in a 747 looks like. This was just a get 'er done, run-of-the-mill landing. There are probably a couple dozen a day worse than that, maybe more.

  5. Sometimes you have to proceed a little harder touchdown, making sure to stay on the ground. I'm also thinking, that this has been a normal procedure.
