Serra da Bocaina National Park has as its most important attraction the Gold Trail, where the tropeiros passed in the golden cycle, with cargoes that would be drained to Portugal via vessels in Paraty. To this day, it is possible to find several stretches of footwear with blocks of stones built by the slaves called "foot of peasant", remnants of this time. These trails were later used for the entrance of sugarcane and coffee in the Paraíba Valley,

The Park is on the border between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in the Serra do Mara. It belongs to the municipalities of Areias, Cunha, São José do Barreiro and Ubatuba, all in São Paulo, and Parati and Angra dos Reis, both in Rio de Janeiro.
