This is the result of about an hour and a half of flying around Stillwater, MN during our first good snowfall of the season. So many beautiful steeples and landmarks to capture, and I hope you enjoyed watching!

Captured with the DJI Mavic Pro drone in DCI 4K resolution. Upload is also in 4K, so hit that setting button, let it load, and enjoy!

Settings that I used:

DCI 4K @ 24 fps
Art color profile
White balance manually set to “cloudy”
Polar Pro ND8 filter was used for all shots
Shutter speed varied between 1/60 and 1/100
Focus was set by using the touch autofocus setting for each shot.
Triangle: -1, Half Moon: -1, Gradient: 0

Use the histogram. It is your friend, especially when shooting outside. And why wouldn’t you be outside, it’s a drone. Have a visual observer with you whenever you are able; it’s amazing what having someone keep their eyes on the drone for you does for your confidence! Keep extra batteries in your pockets to keep them warm. Bring a towel to wipe off the screen and remote when shooting in the snow; it’s also good for sweat when you fly really low. Get stuff in the foreground. Turn around; the opposite angle may be better. Think through the shot you want, then do it multiple times. Try out all the modes. Have fun. 🙂
