Surreal drone footage captured in the West U area of Houston Sunday morning shows rising waters in the Brays Bayou and streets filled with water.

The video was captured by University of Houston freshman, Ahmed Gul. The new California-transplant lives near the intersection of Kirby Drive and Main Street and woke up Sunday to see rising waters in the nearby Brays Bayou and flooding in the streets.

Gul says he is not used to seeing floods and wanted to see more. “I got my drone and got about 15-20 minutes of footage,” he said.

“It was scary and really surprising,” Gul told the Houston Chronicle. “(It was) a unique perspective kind of thing,” he said.
